What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

15

I remember what I was doing at age 15 and after reading Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom:  My Story of the Selma Voting Rights March, I am even more in awe of Lynda Blackmon Lowery.  And even more ashamed of our country.  But yet Ms. Lowery has written a book of hope and love as she tells what she saw and heard and went through when she was on the road to Montgomery.  In face of Bloody Sunday, I am just blown away that she can write with such grace and kindness.  What a beautiful woman she must be.  We are reading this for my nonfiction book group with adults and will talk about it on Tuesday.  The other women in the group all lived through this time and I am anxious to hear what they remember.
