What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Of Peace, Love and Baby Ducks, the greatest of these is...

While the rest of the world is reading Eat, Love, Pray and watching the movie, I've finished up yet another Lauren Myracle title, Love, Peace and Baby Ducks. How to Be Bad had a baby duck, too! At first I didn't know if I could relate to LPB, since its all about sisterly love and I don't have a sister, I'm an old child. But then I figured, well I'm not a child from a family ensnared in a cult and I'm not an LAPD detective either (though I wish I was) so I let it all go and fell into the book. Carly tells the story and shares her feelings about being part of a very wealthy family in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, trying to find her "ironic love boodle" and dealing with her complex feelings for her little sister. Even though Anna is only a year youngee than Carly, Carly has always been Anna's protector. Anna is starting her freshman year of high school where Carly will be a sophomore. Anna has grown up, and out, developing a figure that surpasses Carly's and draws the attention of everyone in school. Carly is jealous of course, but she doesn't want to be.Well developed main characters, good humor and serious moments, even some father-daughter relationship stuff thrown in, this book is another winner!
