There aren't really any guys in The Doll in the Garden, except for the brother of Kristi, the little girl who lives next door to the place where Ashley and her mother have just moved. Oh and the cats! Both cats in the books are dudes.
As I always tell kids who choose a MDH book, this isn't like Scooby Doo where the "ghost" turns out to be Uncle Joe, so there is a real element of paranormal and scare here. Doll in the Garden wasn't super scary, but the ghost is real. This also addresses this issue of the death of a parent (Ashley's dad dies before the story begins) and the death of a friend. Really good book!
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
