What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

I do love the Walgreens

Steve Pemberton is a Big Deal at Walgreens.  He also gave the Opening Keynote Address at the NAEYC Conference this year in Atlanta.  I was so fortunate to be there and to hear him speak.  Wow. After hearing him speak I had to read his book, A Chance in the World:  an Orphan Boy, a Mysterious Past and How He Found a Place Called Home.  I loved his book so much I have recommended it to everyone and am using it for my Adult Non-Fiction Book Group in January.  I hope others will love it, too.  I am not really a big fan of the foster care system, and this book did nothing to help that opinion.  but what a story of hope and love and faith.
