Mr. Jerry Spinelli at the PSLA Conference in Hershey. I heard him speak with Alan Gratz. Of course, I had my Once in a Lifetime Amazing Spinelli Experience right here at the Hershey Lodge so many years ago. When I saw Mr. Spinelli later in the exhibit hall I had to tell him how much I felt blessed by that time, all of those years ago. He was so gracious and kind and let me take a picture of him and Lobster. It was magical!
Eggs was magical, too. A story of friendship and loss of a loved ones, either through abandonment or death. And it was just magical and hopeful and tear and smile worthy. Again, this Mr. Spinelli has done it, captured a real voice, well, real voices, of a 9 year old boy and a 13 year old girl.
Great book. Highly recommended.
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
