What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Ms. Bixby's Last Day.  This was quite the book.  I don't want to say too much except that it should be read, for sure.  I loved this book.  I know many teachers are one of the "good ones" and I know one who is the best of the "good ones."  And this book made me laugh and cry and I didn't really want to leave this book.  I can see it being helpful to kids who find themselves in situations similar to the boys in this book.  I see this as an inspiring book for teachers.  I see this as a really, really wonderful story.  Very real.  Very, very good.  I wonder if this is on anyone's Newbery list?  I plan to read more by John David Anderson, for sure.
