What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

This One

This has to be the Newbery this year.  I loved Towers Falling.  A 9-11 story, but more than a 9-11 story.  Set 15 years after 9-11 in a Brooklyn school where teachers are beginning to talk about the horror of 9-11 as history to middle school students.  But more than that, though because the characters are so real and so good and so engaging.  Recommended for the Newbery. Wow.  Wow. Wow.   There were so many cheesy traps that the author, Jewell Parker Rhodes could have been sucked into but she didn't at all and it was just so so good to read about characters who acted like real people.  I see she has written many more books!  I must read them now!!!!!!
