The Rule of Mirrors is the second book in the Vault of Dreamers series by Caragh M. O'Brien who wrote the Birthmarked series. I read the first one in the series, but during last year when I wasn't keeping up with the blog. So all I can say is I really did like it! And you really should start with the first one first. The Rule of Mirrors is that we don't really see ourselves, ever, as others see us. I was going to write "we don't really see ourselves as we really are" but that really isn't true, is it? I mean, what is our "real self?" The one that we see or the the one that others see? Or are we many selves, like Naked Masks? Ah! Big questions of little real import! In any case, this is a very engaging series. I am not quite a sucked into it as Birthmarked, but I can recommend it for sure!
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
