I am feeling a little sad about John Sandford lately. Extreme Prey is #26 in the Lucas Davenport series that I have loved from the start. Okay. Now I am feeling a little better! I just read that there is a Virgil Flowers book coming out this year! There wasn't one last year and that made me SUPER sad. I thought that maybe Flowers was all done.
Sandford has made his way into the YA fiction gang with the series Singular Menace that he has written with Michelle Cook. I couldn't get into it, but I will probably try again. He also wrote Saturn Run last year, that came out when Virgil usually does, which is what scared me. He wrote that with Ctein. I don't know who Ctein is, but I wonder if, in the science fiction world, Ctein is like Elvis or Dolly or Judy. Oh wait! Ctein is a photographer! So I really don't want to listen to Saturn Run, I will have to read it!
Anyway...there is more political intrigue in Extreme Prey, which has been in some Lucas books and I wondered if he was taking Lucas in this direction. I wasn't sure how I, personally, would like that, because I am not a political thriller kind of reader. Not to say that they wouldn't be good! It just isn't my thing. But then, the end of Extreme has a REALLY good new direction for Lucas and I am SUPER excited about it. Especially now that I know that Virgil is back, too.
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
