What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Rest in Peace, J. D. Salinger

I figured since I did the whole Rest in Peace, Robert B. Parker thing I figured I really should do the same for J.D. Salinger. The thing is, I hate to admit it, but I thought he was already dead. Isn't that terrible? My dad told me though that Salinger would often come into his store, Family Dollar in Sharpsburg, even up until the week he died. He would stand at the counter and he always had a copy of Catcher in the Rye with him, which he would casually set down on the check out counter so that people would maybe notice who he was. Or else maybe he just liked to read the book when he was in Family Dollar, I'm not sure. Anyway, rest in peace, brother. Someday I will read your book.
