One of my favorite books growing up was What the Witch Left by Ruth Chew. I think I got it from a school book fair or maybe my dad brought it home from Children's Palace. I lost my copy but checked out one from the library and am rereading it now.
I had no idea that all of her books are out of print. It seems a shame, especially after reading some of the junk that is still in print!
Chew died early this year.
One of the cool things I learned about her is that she was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As we know, all the very best people were born in Minnesota!
Well done, good and faithful servant! You will be missed.
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
