At the Scaregrounds we were told that the same folks who run it also run Ghost Lake at Conneaut Lake Park. Scaregrounds was so good that I had to get to GL.
The Empress and I headed up last night as were both off Monday morning.
At first we had our misgivings. The park is hard to describe, as is the whole experience. The place is VERY creepy. No lights, little signage. People live on the resort year-round so mixed in with the eight haunted attractions in the park and the Blue Streak coaster that runs on GL nights are just regular old people living in regular old houses. The Empress and I thought it would be pretty scary to live in the resort area while all of the haunting is going on.
The cost is $15.50 for 7 attractions, an extra $3 for the Blue Streak and $2.50 for a haunted corn maze. Let me say that it is worth every penny. We didn't do the Blue Streak, but we did pay for the corn maze. Everyone of these attractions are scarier than Scarehouse and I'm not exaggerating. Same thing for Phantom Fright Night at Kennywood, which is $25.99.
Part of the scare factor at GL is the fact that the actors can and do touch you, just like at Scaregrounds, but there is more to it than that. Yes, it is very chilling to have a creature run his claws through your hair or grab your leg, but even that you could get used to (although I sure didn't- it was frightening EVERY time) but the actors here LOVE what they do. They are made for it. And it shows.
The other thing is each of the eight attractions are so well done. Go to the website and look at the descriptions.
Truly if you enjoy haunted attractions, do not miss GL. It is incredible.
But...sadly...no bathrooms, just port-a-johns. Hopefully someday that will change, then the place will be perfect!
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
