What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

NaNoWriMo Update

As you can see, nanowrimo is really taking up a lot of my time!  I haven't been reading very much at all and I feel icky about that, but I am SO close now.  As of right now I have 44,774 words.  November 30 is on Tuesday so hopefully I will be able to do.  Then it will be back to reading!
Everytime an author is interviewed people say, "How do I become a writer?"  or "What advice can you give to aspiring writers?" Usually they will say "Read, read, read."  I guess I never really knew why that would be so important, but I can see that it is.  I have tried nano three years now but have never gotten this far.  I really think that because I have done so much reading and writing about books this year, I have been able to come as far as I have.
Is my novel great?
No way!
It is pretty terrible, actually.  But it's mine.  :)
