What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Lauren Myracle Let's Her Light Shine....Again

Okay so anyone who has ever read a Lauren Myracle book, I ask you...is there a better YA writer out there today?  We are talking about an author who can write everything from The Winnie Series to the Bliss to Kissing Kate.  This woman is a seriously talented writer.  I am NOT a writer, of course and so I can't find the right words to describe what a great writer she is.  I wish Ms. Myracle would write something about what an amazing writer she is, because she can write!
First of all, on a somewhat superficial note, when I saw the cover and the design of Shine I feel in love.  Then I started reading it and man, man, man I just couldn't put it down.
Myracle starts off by quoting the best Author ever, "You are the light of the world."  Matthew 5:14 and then she spins a tale so incredible that it took my breath away.
This is a book for all to read.  Young, old, believer, non-believer, gay, straight, city, country, boy, girl, purple, orange or blue.
Patrick is found beaten and tied to a gas pump and a gas pump nozzle shoved down his throat.  This heinous act has all the marking of a vicious hate crime, as Patrick is gay.  His childhood best friend, Cat, who is dealing with her own trauma is set on finding out who committed this horrible crime.
I won't say anything more about this book because my words fall short but please, read this book.  I can't imagine reading a better one this year.  Fantastic.
