What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

What a Doll
I love old time radio and love hearing tough guys call women "dolls" even though I guess some might think that's degrading. Sue me. I'm the gal who loves Johnny Get Angry, that's just me. The Deadly Doll isn't available in the Hennepin County Library System, but it is available in mine and I read it the other day. It is part of the Stone Arch Shade Fantasy series, high interest, lower reading level books. First of all, I love the covers of every book in this series. It has been easy to promote them to kids who are struggling readers but looking for a good story. Truly I thought Doll was a fun, spooky story. I do have a fear of scary dolls, though. The book is listed as being written on a second grade reading level, but with a interest level of fifth and sixth grade. I think it is important to keep that interest level in mind when recommending books like this, as the book is as sinister as the title and cover suggest.
