We've all heard the commercials for "IRS TAX RELIEF!" You know, the ones that say "If you owe the IRS more than $10,000 to the IRS our former IRS tax experts can help you!"
My question is....if you owe the IRS the money, don't you, truly, actually, owe the IRS the money? Doesn't everyone have to pay taxes to the IRS, like it or not, on what you earn?
Do these tax relief places help people who made innocent mistakes on their taxes? Ok. I can see that. That's cool. But doesn't the IRS do that, and not charge? Maybe not, I don't know much about it, I always go to H&R Block. I guess I just feel suspicious about it because I know someone who is one of those amazing scammers. This person didn't work for a bunch of years but received free, really excellent health care by lying about how many people lived in his/her house. This person was fully able to work but just didn't. When I happened to ask this IRS tax relief question of this scammer, just in general conversation, I was met with a huge and passionate defense of it. It just made me suspicious, knowing that this person is less than honest. It was also pretty amusing because this person wasn't exactly passionate about anything else, so it was very odd to hear him/her rattle on and on about how important these IRS tax relief services are. I mean this person doesn't even vote, so it isn't like he/she is a concerned citizen. So I know my views are tainted. Maybe a husband cheats on a wife, they get divorced and she finds out he never did the taxes, so now she is in trouble, too. Okay. I get that. That would need tax relief help, right? So I am trying to keep an open mind! Just something I was wondering...
