Secret Identity is the first in the Shredderman series by Wendelin Van Draanen. This has become a pretty popular series and I can see the appeal. It has clever illustrations and looks Diary of a Wimpy Kid-esque, which is sure to capture the attention of even reluctant readers. Both Wimpy Kid and Shredderman appeared in 2004. The chapters are short and Nolan is a pretty sympathetic character. He's a geeky kind of kid and very lovable, in my opinion. This first book is all about how Shredderman came to be, which was as a result of a nasty bully in Nolan's fifth grade class. When Mr. Green assigns a project which involves reporting on someone of note, Nolan decides that he will report on the bully and expose all of his horrible deeds on a website.
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
