What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Can one be socially conservative and fiscally liberal?

As I get older, I find that I am living more in the grey. I used to be so sure of so many things. I think I am mentioned this before, but now I find things changing again in my little mind. I know a few things for sure: I believe in helping in the poor. I believe in welfare and social security and health care for all and programs for education and food and medicine and all of that. I believe in that because I take seriously Christ's call to feed the hungry and visit those in prison, etc. And that will never change about me (oh I guess I should never say never, but I can't imagine that I could live with myself, not caring about the welfare of all of God's children). I believe in opening our borders and I believe in Affirmative Action.
But there are some social issues that I find myself sliding over to the conservative side about, and sliding quickly.
I went over to politicalcompass.org and took a little test and the graph over there shows where I ended up. I'm the little red dot in the green area.
I feel okay about being the little red dot in the green area, because if you look at the other cart, you can see there aren't any dirtbags in my area, it's just me and Gandhi, so that is cool!
I guess I just have to keep thinking and praying about it all!
