What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Erma Bombeck
When I was a kid, I remember reading Erma Bombeck's columns in the Pittsburgh Press. I loved them, as did my grandma. It was something we enjoyed together. I read all the books she had written when I was a kid and a tween. I decided to listen to one, Just Wait Till You Have Children of Your Own, now to see if it held up. First of all, of course it is dated, but the dated-ness of it makes for a great look into the history of American life, so that wasn't a problem at all, in fact, it is quite informative. Secondly, it is amazing (and sad) to discover that so many comics of today have ripped off her stuff and use it as their own! Thirdly, it is clean, truly good stuff and I enjoyed the book thoroughly.
