What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Another One I Finally Got Around To...

So B. It is another one of those books I picked up and put back down a million times.  I ended up with it because it was another one of those times I needed something to listen to and it was available from the library to download.  The narration, by Cherry Jones was awesome.  What a fantastic narrator she is.  The book is told from the POV of Heidi, the twelve year old daughter of a mentally disabled woman who says her name is So B. It.  She is homeschooled by a kind woman, Bernadette, who is agoraphobic and takes care of Heidi and her mom.  Heidi is a smart and good kid.  She wants to find her roots, as she knows nothing about where she came from or who she really is.  The story starts in Reno and travels to Liberty, NY, to a home for disabled folks, where So B. It lived for a short time.  Great story of love and home and who you are.  What a truly awesome book.
