What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

I Just Realized

That Hatchet was written in 1987, when I was still in high school, yet the book isn't dated at all.  I have no idea why I didn't try to read it before this.  I've been in love with Gary Paulsen for a while, but Hatchet aways scared me.  I'm not an adventure story kinda gal.  But man, Hatchet was seriously good.   The detail of the plane crash reminded me of the opening scenes of the movie Alive, which I haven't seen since it came out in 1993, but it still stays with me.    I've already downloaded The River and I can't wait to listen to it.  Peter Coyote does a great job with the reading and he does The River as well.
