A new year!
I have to say that this year has a much better number.
Look at the number 2014. Isn't that so much better looking than 2013.
2013 was a tough year. I guess all years are tough though. Until we get Home.
For 2014 I have set a goal of reading 310 books. Last year my goal was 300 and I read 306. 310 is daunting, but I gotta try, right?
The other thing I am trying this year is Weight Watchers. My current weight is 338 pounds.
Another goal of mine is to follow the Presbyterian Church (USA) Common Book of Worship's Daily Prayer. Yeah, there's a APP for that!
I am also going to try this.
During the first week, I am to list seven things for which I am grateful.
So here are my 7 things:
1. My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ
2. My mom
3. My friends
4. My jobs
5. My cats
6. My home
7. My car
Now the deal is that you are to demonstrate gratitude for one of those things everyday. How, how, how can I fully show my gratitude for Jesus Christ? That is something that I need to do every single day. But how? I can start by trying to live as He did while he was here, physically, on earth. I can also do little things to show others the way to Him.
So 2014 is off and running.
Don't know what it will bring, but I do know, that God will be with us, through it all.
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
