Would You is a powerful story about sisters who seem to have a normal relationship (good times and bad times, just like real people!) and a story about great loss. It is also the second book this month that deals with a head injury! Blah, but this one didn't have the kind of ending that Courage for Beginners did.
Claire is injured in a car accident the summer before she is set to go off to college. The book is told from the POV of her younger sister, Natalie. I wonder if Marthe Jocelyn experienced this in her own life, because the emotions here seem so real.
I just realized now that Jocelyn is the author of one of my most favorite books, Same Same! I really want to read What We Hide next. Very well done and it made me cry. Books rarely make me cry!
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
