where the title of Every Exquisite Thing comes from, which I wish I did. I like quirky titles and I bet this one had meaning. This was a really, really good read. Matthew Quick is a new-to-me author and his new book is coming out in July. He is the author of Silver Linings Play Book, which I didn't read, but I did see the movie. I felt like a fool because I had put off seeing the movie for a long time because I thought it was about football!
This was a super good story that was sad and complicated and just really neat. It has a very realistic portrayal of mental illness, I think. And all of the hard, hard stuff that goes along with loving someone who has some serious mental health issues. It also reminds me that everyone had mental health issues!
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
