What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Rest in Peace, Robert B. Parker

This week we lost one of the most prolific and creative writers of our time.
Known mostly for his crime and detective fiction, Parker was the creator of some of my most favorite characters in all of the book world: Spenser, Jesse Stone, and Sunny Randall. He also wrote a trio of westerns which I absolutely love for their cool and heroic cowboys: Everett Hitch and Virgil Cole. You simply can't go wrong with a Parker novel. I actually envy those of you who perhaps haven't read him yet, you have his entire body of work to enjoy! I've read just about everything, so maybe I'll have to start over.
