The Trouble with Liberty is that the cover scares the heck out of me! It reminds me of Baby Jane Hudson! Still I read it because it is one of the Orca Soundings books because I get a lot of readers advisory questions about teen books for reluctant readers and/or teens reading below grade level.
They are kind of like the Law & Order series of teen fiction in that they are "ripped from the headlines," that kind of thing. Trouble with parents, date rape, and in Liberty's case, the issue of a teacher molesting a student.
I can definatley see how this book would be right on the money for a teen who is reading below grade level wants a story that is interesting. For me though...man...I just couldn't get "I've Written a Letter to Daddy" out of my head. Shudder.
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
