What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

When We All Get to Heaven
Heaven is wonderful, short, poetic, lovely, realistic, painful, beautiful. I just don't know how writers like Angela Johnson do stuff like this- create books that just get right into your heart, mind and soul. Heaven is the story of fourteen-year-old Marley who finds out that her folks aren't really her folks and her Uncle Jack, really isn't her uncle Jack. Bobby and Feather from The First Part Last are friends of Marley's and it is good to see how they are doing. Fantastic book. Not necessary to read First Part first. But read it at some point, because it is wonderful, too. Not a lot of action in this book, but that's not what it is about, you know? It is a smooth, poetic look at a young girl's life and the changes that she faces when she discovers the truth about her parents.
