What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

It's Been A While, how have you been?

It's really good, you know, to see you again.  This is one of the most beautiful songs ever.  And I think that Anne Murray's voice is perfect for it, like the one comment says at the bottom of the video.
Where have I been?  Well, I've been trying to do the nano!  So far I am all caught up and have been every day.  If I get behind, I know I will never finish.  Who knows if I will finish as it is, with more than a month to go.
One of the things I am finding that I don't enjoy about it, and this is probably more of a reflection on the poor way in which I manage my time, is that while I am writing, I am finding little time to read.  I am not even half way through Jekel Loves Hyde, which I am absolutely loving.  But I can't seem to find enough time to read it.  I don't want to blow through it quickly, because it is such a great book, so steady and slow, wins the race, I suppose.
I have been able to listen to books as I drive, however, being that I can't work on nano while I drive, so I can listen to audiobooks without guilt.
I just finished my first Mary Downing Hahn book, The Old Willis Place.   After reading it, I can see why so many kids love MDH.  I have heard her name mentioned as a favorite of so many kids over the years.  At first I thought I had the whole thing figured out and then I was like...no I guess not...but then I was thinking...well maybe....and then back again.
This is a great ghost story, just like it says on the cover.  Twelve year old Diana and her brother are prisoners of mysterious "rules" and are not able to make friends or tell anything of their home life.  Diana, wanting a friend so badly, breaks these rules and befriends the daughter of the care taker of a supposedly haunted house belonging to Old Mrs. Willis who died long ago.
Great cover on a great book!
