What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

The Dead

Not this Dead, but while I am thinking of them...wow, I love to think about them. I remember this concert like it was yesterday. I went with a guy I was dating at the time, Rob. He was a nice, nice guy, we were more friends I guess than dating. We went with my friend, Jan, from work and her husband and some of her friends. It was an all day deal and everyone was so nice!
Three Quarters Dead reminded me a bit of Zombie Blondes. This is the second book I've read by Richard Peck. The first was Here Lies the Librarian, which I really enjoyed. I enjoyed Dead as well, there were just a few things that niggled at me, like the fact that seniors at one of the top high schools in the U.S. were taking Algebra 2. The book is set in Westchester County, a setting I always enjoy in books because is it so different from, well, here! Not that I don't love here, I do! But anyway, Westchester County is just a good setting for a book. The book was good. It was very different. I don't know. The thing is, I don't think I understand it! I'm not sure if Kerry, the main character, is totally nuts, or if her three "friends" are something more sinister than A-list high schoolers. Even now that I am done with the book, I still am wondering what truly happened! I gave it 3 stars on goodreads, but I probably will change that to 4 or even 5 after awhile. I have to let this one settle a bit. Highly recommend.
