What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Because I Needed an Audio Book
I think that I have only read one other Andrew Clements book and I didn't like it so much, but I really needed a book to listen to in the car and this was available on download from the library, so No Talking it was. And it was a good little story! The narration by Keith Nobbs was really good and made the story even more enjoyable. Dave and Lauren are the class leaders of the fifth grade, in their last year of elementary school. This group of fifth graders is a noisy one. Boys and girls really don't get along very well and they never shut up. One day Dave decides to stop talking for a whole day, inspired by Gandhi's habit of not talking one day a week to get his thoughts in order, feel more centered. His silent experiment doesn't go unnoticed, of course, and soon the boys and girls commence a contest, to see who can keep the quietest for two days. Interesting book. Good stuff.
