What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Trying

I am really trying to like Andrew Clements. Maybe I am just picking the wrong books. About Average was just that. Nothing too exciting- despite a natural disaster! Nothing offensive. Just not for me, I guess. That said, I can see how this might appeal to a girl who is wanting very badly to be the best at something. Our main character, Jordan, looks around and sees that she isn't the best at anything. She doesn't feel that she is as pretty or talented or anything as the other girls. Also she has a rotten bully. I really, really, really liked the way that Clements had her deal with the bully. I think this would be a good book for a lot of kids, actually. Now that I am writing about it, I am liking it more! I would say 3.5 stars of 5. See what a little reflection will do?
