What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

A Funny Thing...
Depression is a funny thing. I've done two shows with Zach Funk, a very intelligent comedian, who does a great bit on depression and so he makes it literally funny. But I'm talking about funny as in difficult to explain or strange. Sometimes you can tell that it's coming. Triggers like bad dreams or unfortunate events, that sort of thing. Other times it just flies in from wherever it usually resides and BOINK. My head feels 110 pounds heavier. Today would have been my dad's 70th birthday so that is probably the cause for this current anvil. That's the other funny thing about depression, even when you know the cause, it isn't always possible to alleviate the pain.
