What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Tough Stuff...

Death and illness have always been popular topics for teen books.  Think Lurlene McDaniel and of course, The Fault in Our Stars and many more.    There Will Come a Time isn't a Jump-on-the-Fault-in-Our-Stars rip-off, though.  It is one you can definitely recommend to folks who enjoyed Fault, but this is quite the lovely book.  Very worth reading and it adds the element that the loss in this case is one twin, having lost the other in a car accident.  Mark and Grace were both in the car, but Mark survived, so there is survivor's guilt to be sure.  This book also explores issues of faith in a beautiful way.  I was so grateful that it didn't take the usual, "teens all hate or don't believe in God" path.  That's just a cop-out and not realistic.  At least in my community.  I really loved this book.  Very sympathetic characters, very real characters, no one is all good or all bad.  Complex, just like real life.  I hope to read more by Carrie Arcos very soon.
