What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Nest and Birds

It seems like 2014 was the year of birds in children's and tween books. There was Nightingale's NestNest and Bird.  Okay. That is only three, but still!    Beyond the Laughing Sky was a bird book, but not "just another bird book."  This book was so....weird!  But it was very good and quotable.

"You said "impossible."  There's no such thing.  There's things you've seen and things you may not have, but there ain't nothing that's impossible, sugar."

"...some things are too extraordinary to stay in our world for very long.  And so the time they are here should be taken as a gift, as a pause for a moment in front of us, as a hummingbird in the bell of a flower."
