I have tried Robert Crais before but not I haven't been too into them, but now that I have read The Watchman I am going to go back and read some more. Crais usually writes about Elvis Cole, private detective. Cole's friend, Joe Pike, a former cop and now mercenary, private detective guy, is in the Cole books, but takes a backseat. This is the first book in which Pike is the star. Joe Pike is a quiet, very intense guy. He doesn't say much, but he has a very strong sense of right and wrong. I liked him instantly, even though he's definitely not warm and fuzzy.
In this book a young socialite, Paris Hilton-type is involved in a car accident with some very bad men. The bad men are trying to kill her and even the Federal Witness Protection Program can't help, so Pike gets the job. This was a fast-paced action, mystery. Check it out!
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
