Stone Barrington, the hero of seventeen of Stuart Woods mysteries, has always been a ladies man. In Kisser, he steps it up a notch, well maybe two or three notches. If you check out the amazon and goodreads reviews, you will see that a lot of people are angry at Woods for this increase in promiscuity. True, Stone gets around a little more than usual in this latest book, and maybe if you aren't familiar with Stone, it might seem very odd but long time Stone fans probably won't be too offended. I also think that the people who are complaining about Stone's antics are like the folks who complain about cell phone users. It is my humble opinion that folks who loudly complain about people being on their cell phones too much do so because they don't have anyone to talk to on their own cell phones, because people are tired of hearing them complain about other people! So maybe the people who are really offended by Stone are wishing they were more like him.My love life is NOTHING like Stone's, nor do I wish it to be, but I don't begrudge him a good time. After all this is fiction and actually, people like Stone do exist! He's not my favorite character in mystery fiction, I much prefer Scudder, Lucas Davenport, all of Robert B. Parker's guys and even the world's most lovable hitman, Keller to Stone, but Stone is right after these guys. He and his buddy, NYPD's Dino are a great team and each book offers suspense and a few chuckles. Kisser is no exception.
