I loved this book in the beginning. I couldn't stop reading it the first night, but about 100 pages into it I thought this needs some serious editing.
I have heard that the second one is better, so I will read it, and I probably will see the movie. Maybe I don't dislike the book as much as I thought...I just really think that it tries to hard to be Harry Potter-like. And of course, I don't like anything Harry Potter-like! I enjoy the parts of the book that aren't Harry Potter-ish. Like the funny chapter titles like
I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher and A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers. I like that use of humor. Harry Potter is just blah blah blah typical Keeping Up Appearances-ish-BBC-pretense-garbage are far as humor goes. But Percy is actually funny. We all know Harry is just a rip of Wizards Hall and Percy might be trying to be Harry, but I guess what I want to say is, FORGET HARRY! Just be Percy. Deep inside Percy is way cooler and the premise is way better (and more original than Rowling's RIP-OFF of Jane Yolen's work). So Percy, just be yourself!
