And not because it's bad. It's really good actually. And another Miss Kelly recommendation. I really wanted to make a commitment to never not finish a book, but this one was just too painful. Almost Perfect is the story of Logan who is a high school senior pining over his ex-girl friend who cheated on him. In walks Sage, the new girl in school and as they get to know each other, Logan starts to fall in love. But the thing is, Sage is a boy- he's transgendered. As you can imagine he doesn't take it well but the two try to stay friends. The book is tragically sad. It's like the movie Boys Don't Cry. I read the first 100 pages or so, skimmed the middle, full of totally sad, painful events and then read the ending. I can't finish this book, but I would recommend it if you feel up to crying a lot. I think this would be great bibliotherapy if it wasn't so darn sad. So maybe it isn't. But man it is sad. So I can't put it on my list of YA books in the challenge, but I wanted to write about it here because it is so darn good, just heart-breaking.
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
