I have picked that book up so many times and put it right back down after seeing the word "poetic" but this time I just needed a book on cd very badly! So I gave in. Okay so maybe it is "poetic" but it so good and so interesting and the characters are so original and likable. I am so glad I didn't miss this. We really need to do something about bad covers and bad book descriptions. Ugh!
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

I almost didn't read this
but I am so glad I did. The back of Keesha's House describes it like this "Seven teens facing such problems as pregnancy, closeted homosexuality, and abuse each describe in poetic forms what caused them to leave home and where they found home again." BORING. "poetic forms" Really? Really? And that is supposed to make someone, especially a teen, pick up this book? Really?
