For the last couple of years I've been seeing billboards for Rockwood, PA's Haunted Hayloft but I have never gone. Man, man, man! I am SO glad that MaryAnne and Sharon and I went on Devil's Night, as part of our last round of haunted attractions. What a wonderful, chilling, first-class experience. As soon as we got there we were led to the entrance which was one of those spinning around neon things that make you dizzy. We were off to a great start. The next thing we ran into were the bathrooms! Full service, amazing bathrooms! Then we were greeted by two lovely women who gave us our tickets. The wait was under cover in case of rain and yes, the attraction begins in the hayloft of a big, old barn. A beautiful barn full of creepy people who love what they do and have created an intriguing and horrific storyline, which you can read about on the website and see reenacted during the attraction. Everything was 100%. From the GORGEOUS shimmering, indeed, vampire who led us inside to the very creepy dude who called out Sharon's name and chased her with a chainsaw.
Fantastic. Fantastic.
There was food available, but we did not partake, though I bet it was first class like the rest of the place. After the house we took seats on a very comfortable tractor, with benches and cannibals who wanted us to stay for dinner. Then we were dumped off in a corn field and had to make our way back to the car. The rustling of the corn stalks was the perfect ending to a perfect haunt.
I pray that I will be able to go back some day.
BRAVO!
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
It is Halloween eve and we are traveling to Somerset Pa to visit two haunted houses. The first one is the haunted hayloft. Right from the start this attraction looked to be exciting, as you had to walk through one of those tunnels with neon dots on the inside that spins. So I new I was in for a dizzying good time.
ReplyDeleteThis attraction was well down; since Halloween is over I can divulge some of the things I liked. The hanging was really cool and something we hadn’t seen in any of the other houses we visited. The guy who zip lined over us was really scary too. This house was well put together and everyone working there seemed to really enjoy scaring you.
I loved the part where the chainsaw guy chopped off the arm of the one prop that was hanging there, really cool effect and looked very realistic too. The white room with the bright lights I found to be very disorienting and they use of mirrors was another great affect.
Once out of the house we boarded a comfortable tractor and began our hayride. The hayride was nice, the sky was perfect full of stars and nice breeze added the eeriness of the night. The hayride concluded with a walk through a corn maze.
For scariness I give this attraction 7 skulls and atmosphere 9 pumpkins!!
