What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

I just can't believe it.

Robert B. Parker has been gone for awhile. Some books that he had in the pipeline have come out since then, but I can't imagine that there are too many more. Reading Sixkill and finding it, not surprisingly, to be pure Parker Gold made it even hard to contemplate a world without a new Spenser, Jesse Stone or Sunny Randall book. It was especially tough because Sixkill introduces a new character, a Cree Indian named, well, Sixkill and I would have loved to have seen Sixkill in future books. Spenser is asked to figure out whether or not a truly scum-of-the-earth actor named Jumbo killed a girl in his hotel, or if she died accidentally. The characters are intriguing as ever. All of the regulars, except for my beloved Hawk make an appearance. Great book for Spenser fans. God, can you figure out a way for Robert B. to still right and publish from Home?
