This year I didn't get to go on my end of summer trip because of everything that was going on with my dad, but I did get to read a delightful book today, Don't Stop Now, which helped me to plan for next year! This great little book is the story of two friends, driving from a Chicago suburb to Portland, OR to find a sorta friend who has faked her own kidnapping to get away from troubles at home.
Along the way, of course they learn a lot about growing up and about each other, but they also see some fabulous places! Devils Tower, Wall Drug, The Badlands, the Crazy Horse Memorial, The House on the Rock, man this is a serious road trip and I am green with envy. All the places I wanted to see this year! They also saw some of the places I have seen or passed by Mars' Cheese Castle, and Voodoo Doughnuts. Sad that their trip was the horrible Armpit of the Universe, Portand, OR. Great, great book, reminded me of The Disenchantments
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
