That I loved Shock Wave. John Sandord. Virgil Flowers. Set in Minnesota. What is not to love? This one is about the expansion of a Walmart-Target kind of big box store, Pye Mart, that wants to move into the town of Butternut, Minnesota. Someone is blowing up stuff in Butternut, people and everything, to keep the Pye Mart from being built. I don't know if Butternut is a real town or what. It kinda sounds a lot bigger than any I can find on google.
I do know that this book doesn't have a lot of humor in it, but I loved it anyway, because I love That F*&*ing Flowers! It was a great book! Can't wait to read Mad River!
Oh wait! The town is Butternut Falls! Not Butternut! Which I don't see at all as really being in Minnesota!
What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
