What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Witness
Witness took a little bit for me to get into, but once I did, I was hooked. I think that listening to a book with twelve different POVs is hard. For me anyway, but once I figured out the voices, the story came alive. Karen Hesse wrote two books that I didn't really like at all, but I liked them well enough not to give up this one and I am so glad that I did. This is an historical fiction one, set in 1923-24 in a small town in Vermont. It details what happens to a group of folks when the Klan comes to town. It is definitely a book that makes one very, very angry. And angrier still that there is still so much racism and hate today. The audio book has a great interview with Karen Hesse at the end which is really great as well.
