What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Maybe if I read it!

So as I have said over and over again, I am not too big on awards!  This year's Newbery was Flora and Ulysses:  the illuminated adventures.  I bought the audio and I did enjoy it.  Its a very creative, original story and quite funny.  There were a few problems with it.  I found myself having to go back more than a few times and listen to certain parts again because I just found myself drifting off.  After I finished it though, I realized that its a book/graphic novel hybrid!  No wonder there were parts that I felt were totally bizarre!  I ended up buying the ebook and my goodreads rating went from 4 of 5 to 5 of 5!  So, hooray for Flora and Ulysses!
