At one of my jobs we have this really cool volunteer during the summer and he is totally in love with I Dream of Jeannie. I think it is awesome that old school stuff still has an honest appeal. During the summer, then, we like to dance around like Jeannie.As You Wish is a modern genie tale, but in modern times genies are called jinns and they aren't in bottles unless they are being punished for breaking protocol while they are on Earth.
This was a kindle library book check out and I probably wouldn't have read it otherwise. It is a cute little story and sort of coming-of-age.
I did learn that falling in love with a jinn is bad because once you accidentally make your three wishes, the jinn has to go back home and you will forget all about him. This would be a good tween romance/fantasy deal I suppose. It was just a little too light for me (this from the girl who loves her cheese, I know)!
