Some People

I am not sure if more people are like Maggie or not like Maggie.  I think if we have the answer to that life would be a lot easier.  This book just completely messed with my understanding of morality and how I think (or thought) people see right and wrong.  This is How I Lied was pretty terrible regardless. 

Kill the Music

I really had a hard time listening to The Haymeadow, not because of the book itself.  I mean, it's Gary Paulsen!  But because the audio is terrible!  Not the reader, it's John-Boy Walton, Richard Thomas.  I wonder if he hates being known as John-Boy, or if he is glad this has made him kinda immortal.  I think I would like that, my ego and all.  Even if I was linked to a particular character.  He does a great job.  It's that there is this super-annoying music that plays over top of a lot of his narration!  Maybe some people like this?  I don't.
In any case, if you have seen Brokeback Mountain, you will understand what John Barron is doing in this book.
I mean, kinda.
I mean, not the interpersonal stuff.
But the taking the sheep to a different place for the long winter kinda thing.
This is another short, great book from Paulsen.  I love the father-son-grandfather angle and also the part about the original sheep herder's illness.  In just a few words, Paulsen says so much to one's heart.  More words don't make a book better, Mr. King.

ohhhh that was GOOD!

Snake is the 1.5 offering from the Messenger of Fear series and it was delightfully dark and good and creepy!  I am so hoping that #3 will be out soon.

A Tattooed Heart

Right after listening to Messenger of Fear, I downloaded the second book, Tattooed Heart.  And it was really good, too!  It took some turns that I didn't expect and so that was really enjoyable.  Great series and I am looking foward to reading the one in between and the one yet to come!

The Price of Fear

Again I find myself referencing Vincent Price!  Messenger of Fear is the first in a series of the same name by new-to-me author, Michael Grant.  I really, really enjoyed this book.  wakes up in a weird world and soon discovers that she is now an apprentice to the Messenger of Fear.  Who happens to be a good looking dude about her again who seeks to discover if someone should be judged for a death for which he or she may be responsible.  That doesn't make sense!  Read the goodreads blub about it!  And then read the book, because it is really good I am listening to the second one now!  And it is really good so far, too!  I have the 1.5 on my phone, as it is only available for kindle!
