What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Should Have Known!
I love A.S. King. She is just such a neat, original, brilliant writer. I started Me and Marvin Gardens without realizing that it was written by A.S. King. Now I know why, as I look at the cover! It has her full name! Yeah, I guess I should have figured it out, but I didn't until I saw it listed under A.S. King on goodreads! Ha! Well when I started this book I loved it right away and I could tell that it was more than a middle grade novel. It is weird, it is deep, it is awesome. Now this has to be a Newbery contender!

Sucked Me Right In...but then got too complicated :(
I am an easy kinda reader. Political thrillers can be too much for me. Same with the legal thrillers. I like easy. Maybe I am lazy, maybe I am just not that smart. Probably a combination of both. Daughter of Deep Silence was great, it was. It starts out very exciting and keeps on being very exciting, but then...it just gets too complicated for me...well, the end does. I mean the "reveal" was too complicated. The descriptions of Frances' passion for Gray were a little too Harlequin for me, too. But over all, this was worth the read. Totally different from The Forest of Hands and Teeth series. Totally. But I liked it just the same!
