What's Going On Here?
There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

WOW!
Because I LOVED The Selection series from Kiera Cass, I couldn't wait until The Betrothed came out! And I have to say this was one of those times when there was NO disappointment even with such high expectations! I can't wait until the next one! Right now the pictures won't upload on Blogger, so I will have to do that later! But even though this is romance and romance isn't my thing, I love these books by Cass!

Complicated
The love story in The Opposite of Always is complicated. Aren't all love stories? Isn't life complicated? It is. And this was a complicated and beautiful story. It just seemed a wee bit too long for me, but I still would highly recommend it. Faith and life and death and time travel and Groundhog Day and love all rolled into one.

The Forgotten 39
36 Questions that Changed My Mind about You was not my kind of book. It has been described as Chick-Lit and I am not a very good Chick-Lit Appreciator. But it was cute and if someone like Chick-Lit they will probably like it. It has an interesting premise though. And there are questions that are said to be good ones to ask of a new love interest. My sweetie and I did this once, and it was kinda fun!

To be Honest...
I really couldn't assign any stars to To Be Honest, but it wasn't because I thought it deserved zero stars, it was just that I don't know how I feel about this book.
Let me just say that I KNOW David Levithan would burn this book! I mean, the cover alone would make Levithan and Lagerfeld have heart attacks! (Even though they are SUPER healthy and SUPER fit, I am sure!)
There is one thing that I didn't feel mixed about, that I just plain liked and appreciated, and that was Savannah's sister being gay but it not being a big deal! Because love is love! So that part was very cool. Very cool.
But the weight issue was hard...
Admittedly, I have my weight issue. I also feel it is very funny that NOW body acceptance is in, where was it when I was heavier! hahah! And I love that when I go to stores I see kids clothing in all sizes, that is just really neat. And I can't imagine what it would have been like to grow up that way.
But...
yes, there is always a but with me, huh?
I do think that the book is super tough on Savannah's mom. I get Savannah's mom. I do. I am Savannah's mom, except I did the weight loss the "right" way, it taking nearly four years to lose 217 lbs.
This a very good piece.
I just don't know how I feel. I really don't. I think that this book is just a hard one for me. I would love to hear from others.

One Day
LBGTQIA relationships will be written about like this. You know, where the LBGTQIA part of it is not THE part of it. Where it is just part of who the characters are. Where all will realize that love is love is love is love.
Everything a Leads to You was just a really, really, really good story and love story. Really liked this a lot.

Okay so
Geekerella is NOT my typical book. It is a romance and a silly love story, but it is very sweet and very funny and the whole paralleling Cinderella really works and both love stories that happen are so cute and funny and yeah, it is just really different and a good, fun read!

Until There Was You
I never would have read Soppy until I fell in love. Had a been forced to read it, I would have hated it and mocked it. I loved this book. If you are in love, you will love it, too. If you love "ordinary time" with the one you love, you will especially love this book. What a love story. Only thing is, David Levithan would hate this book. The female character is drawn so that she looks a bit overweight! He would have a field day saying how lazy she is!

Not a Book Review Blog
And my star rating on goodreads, they aren't really reviewing the books, now that I think about it. What they really do is express how I personally felt about the book. Please Don't Tell was SO a wrong book for me. But it might be the right book for someone else. I do love love. I didn't used to love love because I was never in love before but now that I know that love is real and wonderful and amazing, I am embarrassed by how anti-love I used to be!
The thing is, murder and love and especially serial killers and love don't mix well for me. And that is this book.
Here is one good thing about the book. The women in this book are ridiculous about love. One is a very accomplished doctor in her early 30s or late 20s and the other is 58 years old and also a smart cookie and the other is an experience gal in her 20s. But they act like middle schoolers when it comes to love! And at first I was thinking, "no one would act this way!" but now I understand what it is like to feel so young, even when old, when love walks in your life. Especially when you least expect it. But feeling validated in my mushy, gushy, head-over-heels, you make me feel so young thoughts that get stronger every day, even as my second year anniversary of it approaches, could make me like this book.

A New Series from Rachel Hawkins!!!
I was so thrilled to see School Spirits on netgalley.com. Hex Hall was one of my most favorite series. I read every book in one sitting and laughed and loved all three. It was so sad to see the series end with just three books, but maybe it's brevity kept the whole thing fresh. School Spirits is a spin-off series, if you will, taking characters we met briefly in the HH series and giving them their own life. The Brannicks, especially teen monster-hunter Izzy is the focus of this first book. She and her mom are that last of a powerful family of folks who keep wayward monsters inline. While Izzy's life is anything but typical, having to banish vampires, werewolves and other creepers, she has to go to high school now, to track down an evil ghost of a former student. Izzy is a great main character, easy to love. So are all of her companions. I can't wait to recommend this book! It will so easy to do!!! I can't wait for the next one!
