Oh those Tapper Twins!

The Tapper Twins Go Viral is the fourth in the series and I really still do love it so much.  In fact, I loved it so much I actually read it, instead of reading it!  Ha!  Great stuff.  A good lesson on internet safety!  But not cheesy or an obvious lesson at all!  Very funny!

Election Stress

The Tapper Twins Run for President is the third in this series I have enjoyed so much!  Once again, I love the love between these two siblings, even though they have their normal spats.  And the format of the books are great!

A Great Change!

After the long, hard trip that was Strange the Dreamer, it was so great to see that the second book in the Tapper Twins series was ready for me!  The Tapper Twins Tear Up New York was just great. Very enjoyable and I really, really am looking forward to the next one in the series.  I have the audio on hold!  Loved the first and this one just as much!

Sweet

Sure it seems like a book called The Tapper Twins Go to War (with each other) wouldn't be sweet. But this really was.  Sure there were a love of un-sweet parts, I mean they do play horrible tricks on one another involving cyberbullying and stinky cheese, but man, this was a really good, funny book and I am looking forward to reading the next one in the series!

Sisters!

Raina Telgemeier is an incredible artist and storyteller.  Drama and Smile are two of my most favorite books of all time and after reading them, I became interest in graphic novels as a format.  Sisters, the sequel to Smile was a book I was looking forward to ever since I finished Drama and Smile.  When I saw it on netgalley, I let out a whoop of joy!
The book did NOT disappoint!  It was compelling and real and funny.  Very well done!  I highly recommend this and I know it will be a big hit!

Another Really Great School Story!

Andrew Clements, man.  He is GOOD GOOD GOOD.   Lost and Found was another excellent one.  It is about twin boys who are entering a new school and they pretend that there is only one boy instead of two!  The guys move to Cleveland over Labor Day weekend.  One twin is sick on the first day of school and his brother discovers that the school has messed up and combined both boys' records together so instead of being Jay and Ray, there is only Jay!  They get the idea to play it out and see how long they can be one only child instead of half of twins.  Really good!

Trolling

Is trolling a thing anymore?  The Trolls by Polly Horvath is a pretty funny book.  It's not laugh-out-loud funny, bizarre, hilarious like The Pepins and Their Problems.  But man, it subtly tells a story that is important, interesting and amusing. 
Siblings Melissa, Amanda and Pee Wee need someone to stay with them when their parents go on vacation.  Their regular babysitter is sick and there is no one to take care of them but their father's sister from Vancouver Island,  Aunt Sally. 
Aunt Sally is very different!  And she brings with her, stories of the family from long ago. 
The ending really made the book for me. 

They Look Like Ramonas, but They Act Like Junie B.s

So, if you like Junie B. Jones and don't like Ramona Quimby,  Ivy and Bean will appeal to you.  I love Ramona, but for me, Junie B. is too nasty.  I was really surprised because Ivy and Bean look so so so cute and sweet!  But no, they really aren't.  I know that this series is super popular, but I would offer the JBJ and RQ analogy when recommending it.

Pucker Up!

One of my most favorite shows is Modern Family.  Although I couldn't stand the show Married, with Children and especially the character that Ed O'Neill played on it, Ed O'Neill is one of my favorite characters on MF.  Last night I was watching the episode which saw him and his granddaughter, Lilly, selling lemonade and advertising it as "Pucker Up" and so that's how this whole stream of consciousness thing got started.  Anyway...
The Lemonade War is a book a that I have been wanting to read for some time.  It's a series and I hope to read the rest, because this was a sweet little story and good for guys and girls.
It's a brother and sister story.  Evan and Jessie have gotten along pretty well.  Evan is older, just by a year.  He isn't as book-smart as his sister, because Jessie seems to be a gifted kid and she is actually skipping a grade.  As we meet them in this first book, they have just found out that Jessie and Evan will be in the same class next year.  That makes Evan super sad.  And super cranky.  Jessie can't really understand why Evan is being so distant and mean.  The two begin to compete to see who can sell the most lemonade before school starts.  There's math in here and good info about starting a business.  It isn't preachy though and it all comes across very naturally as part of the story that I think kids in grades 2-4 would really like.  Good stuff!

Penguin Problems, Indeed

There is a huge problem with a penguin in this book.  That is for sure.  There are really no other problems with this book, however, as it is written by the amazing Lauren Myracle.  It will be super easy to recommend this one, that's for sure.  Ty is the little brother of Winnie from The Winnie Years which is a wonderful, wonderful series and this will be perfect for young guys this summer.  The Life of Ty: Penguin Problems is the first book in what I hope will be a long series!
